ESCAMAS for flute trio

“It was so great to play this music! We premiered it with the Panamerican Trio in the 2018 NFA convention and got many compliments about it. This music is inspired on the iconography of a Peruvian culture which was located by the sea, and you will find a variety of colors, characters and resources like the use of canon, which create a beautiful atmosphere that matches the piece´s topic perfectly. Personally I loved that it is a contemporary work which is technically challenging but completely accessible and very nice to listen to.”

About:

"Escamas" is Spanish for "fish scales". The work is inspired by the iconography of the Moche and Chimú civilizations, which dominated the northern coast of present-day Peru from the II. to the XII. centuries.

Specifically, I was inspired by depictions of sea creatures, both real and mythical, as well as depictions of maritime activities such as sailing and fishing. These depictions are mostly found on pottery, as well as on walls in archeological sites of the mentioned civilizations.
